National Football League - NFL
the NFL is the largest professional American football league which was formed by 11 football teams in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association and changed it name to the National Football League in 1922.
The NFL consists of 32 football teams, all from the USA and it divided evenly into two conferences (the American Football Conference which is also known as AFC and the National Football Conference - NFC). Each conference has 4 divisions that contains 4 teams in each division.
The NFL season is a 17 weeks schedule on which each team plays 16 games. Each team play the other 3 teams in their division twice and also play each team from another division in their conference and each team from a division in the opposite conference.
The remaining two games held against the teams in the other two divisions in their conference which have finished in the same position from the previous season. The season begins during September and runs weekly to late December or early January.
At the end of each season, 6 teams from each conference play in the NFL playoffs, and at the end of this, the championship match, known as the super bowl is being held.
NFL uniforms numbers are based on the position each player is playing according to the below ranges:
Quarterbacks, placekickers and punters: 1 - 19
Wide Receivers: 10 - 19 and 80 - 89
Running backs and defensive backs: 20 - 49
Offensive linemen: 50 - 79
Linebackers: 50 - 59 and 90 - 99, or 40 - 49 if all are taken
Defensive linemen: 60 - 79 and 90 - 99
Tight ends: 80 - 89, or 40 - 49 if all are taken
